Natalie Douglas

In this episode of Virtuosa Society Podcast’s companion “Between the Bio” series, Katie Harman sits down with Broadway and cabaret performer Natalie Douglas for a candid conversation about representation, artistic expression, the incredible story of her secret adoption, connecting with her birth father, vibrational energy, collaboration, and so so so much more!

Season 1: Episode 7 of the Virtuosa Society Podcast featured the story of four women instrumental to Tin Pan Alley and the American popular music landscape, and their struggles to be recognized beyond male pseudonyms and partnerships. Natalie and Katie specifically talk about composer Irene Higginbotham and how it must have felt to be a young gifted Black woman writing under a pen name on Tin Pan Alley, as well as the lasting impact of Irene’s musical legacy.

“Between the Bio” interviews are meant to dig a little deeper between the highlight’s in a creative’s bio, into the spaces and pockets of their experience where the nuances, challenges, truths and growth happen. Because we don’t talk about them nearly enough. And because conversations like this are vital for understanding the uniqueness and sameness of life as a female creative.
